Hammond Control Transformers PH Series
The HPS Imperator series of machine tool rated industrial control transformers are specifically designed to meet the high inrush industrial applications where electromagnetic components such as relays, solenoids and magnetic motor starters are used. With 11 standard voltage groups, a VA range from 50VA to 5000VA and available with standard secondary and optional primary fuse kits, the HPS Imperator provides the perfect solution for any application.
Hammond Control Transformers Enclosed Q Series Encapsulated
For applications where an indoor or outdoor, cost effective approach to general purpose loads is desired, consider the 'Q' series, single phase, enclosed encapsulated control transformer. These units have a standard NEMA Type 3R enclosure, are available in 3 standard voltage combinations and are specifically designed for the following applications:
- General purpose enclosed control applications used to adjust a supply voltage to match a load requirement
- Supplying machine tool circuits.
- Actuating relays, bells, and signal and alarm systems.
- Operating small motors, valves and dampers.
- Industrial lighting and circuit isolation.
Buck-boost transformers offer an economical solution to the adjustment of line voltages that are slightly above or below normal. When a Buck-Boost transformer is connected as an autotransformer, only a portion of the load kVA is actually transformed. The majority of the load kVA is passed directly through to the source. For this reason a Buck-Boost transformer may be used to supply a much larger load kVA than is indicated on the nameplate. Hammond offers single phase units, in ratings from 50VA to 10,000VA in three standard voltages. Custom voltages are also available.
Low Voltage Lighting Transformers
For a cost effective approach to supply low voltage for recreational, lighting, or light duty industrial applications, consider the 'Q' style encapsulated transformer.
For a general purpose load including actuating relays, bells, control and low voltage circuits, this enclosed encapsulated, NEMA 3R rated transformer is ideal for simplicity and efficiency.

General Purpose Distribution Transformers
Hammond's line of single phase and three phase general purpose distribution transformers are rated for 600 volts and below. They are generally used for supplying appliance, lighting, motorized machine and power loads from electrical distribution systems. They are either ventilated or totally enclosed, and are available with either aluminum or copper windings in standard ratings from 50 VA up to 750 kVA. Shielded distribution transformers are also available, which provide a copper electrostatic shield between the primary and secondary windings. The shield is grounded and thus shunts most noise and transients to the ground path rather than passing them through to the secondary. Applications for shielded transformers are similar to those above, and are ideal for commercial or electrical installations where electronic circuitry operating at low voltage DC is present and is very sensitive to 'noise'.
Encapsulated General Purpose Transformers
Hammond's line of single phase and three phase general purpose encapsulated transformers are rated for 600 volts and below. Encapsulated transformers are standard general purpose distribution transformers encased in a electrical grade silica and epoxy, and totally enclosed in a heavy duty NEMA 3R style enclosure. All leads are brought out to a separate front accessible termination compartment. All encapsulated transformers are available with copper windings in single phase ratings from 0.05 kVA up to 37.5 kVA and three phase ratings from 2kVA up to 45 kVA. Typical applications of encapsulated transformers are pulp and paper plants, steel mills, food processing plants, breweries, mines, marine and shipboard installations etc. Electrostatic shields, a copper electrostatic shield between the primary and secondary windings, are standard on single phase units above 0.50 kVA and optional on most others.
Non-Linear (K-factor) Distribution Transformers
The use of electronic equipment has continued to grow in both offices and industrial plants. Either switching power supplies or rectifier circuits power these electronic devices. Examples of these devices include computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, cash registers, UPS's and solid-state ballasts. They all contribute to the distortion of the current waveform and the generation of Harmonics. General purpose transformers, most frequently used for applications such as commercial or institutional buildings, will, by definition, supply widely varied single phase loads as described. K Factor transformers are general purpose transformers but are designed to tolerate the harmonic distortion associated with these loads.
Energy Efficient (TP1) Distribution Transformers
Hammond is pleased to introduce a line of energy efficient, dry type, general purpose distribution transformers to meet NEMA TP-1 specifications. In the past several years, there has been an accelerated rate of change to introduce energy efficiency standards for transformers in North America. Many products have preceded the initiatives for transformers in an overall effort to optimize manufactured goods for environmental concerns. Governments are encouraging users to consider energy efficient products like dry type transformers, in an effort to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions. In addition to the benefits to the environment, energy efficient transformers also can realize substantial savings in operating costs thereby having a direct impact on the initial investment evaluated over a period of time.

Drive Isolation Transformers
With today's technological advances in solid-state power control devices, the use of AC and DC variable speed drives has proliferated in many industrial markets. General purpose distribution transformers are not adequate for this type of application. Hammond's Drive Isolation transformers are designed to meet the rugged demands of both AC and DC variable speed drives and also to provide the required voltage change. The separate primary and secondary windings provide electrical isolation between the incoming line and the SCR load. The windings are designed to withstand overcurrent of 150% of the rated load for 60 seconds or 200% of the rated load for 30 seconds. A duty cycle of one start for every two hours is permitted. Drive Isolation Transformers are sized to match standard motor horsepower and voltage ratings. Standard sizes range from 5 to 600 HP in six standard voltages in both aluminum and copper. Nonstandard sizes and voltages are available upon request.
Hammond three phase autotransformers are available for applications where small voltage corrections are necessary in a distribution system. They are frequently used as an economical alternative to three phase general purpose distribution transformers to adjust the supply voltage to match specific load requirements when load isolation from the supply line is not required. Autotransformers can be used as either a step-up or step-down transformer. Available with either aluminum or copper windings in ratings from 3kVA to 500kVA.

RM Series Three Phase Line Reactors
Utilizing Variable Speed Drives to control motor speed has impacted industry both in energy savings and increased efficiencies. The challenge for today's designers is dealing with non-linear wave shapes generated by solid-state devices.
By choosing a Hammond RM series line reactor, many line problems such as nuisance tripping, line notching, harmonic distortion can be reduced or even eliminated. Additionally, performance, life expectancy and efficiency of both the motor and the drive itself are significantly enhanced. Hammond's RM line reactors are available in standard ratings from 2 amps to 1200 amps (or 0.5HP to 1200HP).
RC Series DV/DT Filters
The Hammond RC series DV/DT filters are specifically designed for drive/motor applications with long lead lengths (usually where the motor cable length is 20 feet and greater). They should always be installed next to the IGBT variable frequency drive. Typical installation applications include production process lines, conveyor systems and deep wells. Available in ratings from 2 amps to 600 amps, the RC series DV/DT filters combine appropriate values of inductance, capacitance and resistance to form a filter, which reduces DV/DT and peak voltages from the PWM voltage waveform. This combined with a 3% impedance reactor, which will reduce motor heating harmonics, will significantly increase the life of your motor.

Motor Starting Auto Transformers
2909 Series Motor Starting Autotransformers
These three phase, 2 coil motor starting autotransformers are suitable for motor starters with 2 contacts, connected in open 'V' configuration. Phase voltage across the open 'V' tends to be slightly out of balance when compared to the other two phases. The 2909 series are available for motor horsepower ratings from 20HP to 1600HP.
3009 Series Motor Starting Autotransformers
These three phase, 3 coil motor starting autotransformers are suitable for motor starters with 3 contacts, connected in a 3 phase 'Wye' configuration. This provides balanced voltages across each phase. The 3009 series are also available for motor horsepower ratings from 20HP to 1600HP.

Portable Voltage Regulators are easily moved from place to place and attractively finished to adapt to any workplace.
